History

In 1983, the late Mr. Elias Tyler (WW II Vet) and his beautiful wife Mrs. Dorothy Tyler received a request by some local school-aged girls to become sponsors of their Drill Team. The team needed help getting uniforms and supplies to compete in local and state competitions.  The Tyler's were so impressed by the children's tenacity and determination they immediately decided to become sponsors.  The Tylers obtain a personal bank loan to support the needs of the team.

They opened their home for drill practice, sewing of uniforms, and provided daily meals to 72 community youth.  The team adopted the name, "Tylerette's Drill Team" in honor of their sponsor and mentors.  The Tylerette's went on to enter and win local and state competitions.

Today, The Tyler Youth Group is being run by Ms. Darselle Patillo, Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tyler.  The Tyler Youth Group is celebrating 36 years as a not-for-profit community-based organization.
